Music of
the Susquehanna
River Region
The Library will be receiving a CD player and headphones donated by the Danville German Society. This CD player will remain in the Library for public use along with the collection of CD's by PA recording artists. We are currently requesting donations from ANY song-writers in the Susquehanna River area. (that's a loose definition on purpose)
What we're looking for: CD's only, consisting primarily of ORIGINAL material. If there are a few cover songs that is fine (assuming they are recorded legally respecting copyright laws), but the goal is to collect the original works of PA song-writers. We hope that this
collection will add to the cultural heritage of our area, while also allowing
a means for networking and for Pennsylvanians to discover new artists.
How to add your recording: At this point, the collection is being created by DONATIONS ONLY. As a recording artists I know that there is a limit on how many "free-bees" you can hand out. We ask for only 1 copy of as many of your titles as you wish to donate. YOUR CD'S WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO YOU. Please send your
CD's to;
along with a note giving me YOUR written permission to add this CD to the collection. You may not hear back from me, but I give you my word that if I get your CD, it will be passed along to the library for addition to the collection. PLEASE pass the word onto anyone you may know who has original recordings. The
collection does not "officially" open until July 22nd. Please feel
free to come to the opening ceremony July 22nd at 6pm at The Priestley
Forsyth Memorial Library in Northumberland, PA,
This effort was begun by Van Wagner, Karl Shellenberger, and Ollie Wagner. Ollie and Van just released a CD together called "The Pickle Barrel" (seen below) with songs written about PA. This got the gears spinning that PA needs a collection of ALL of the song-writers from all music styles. When we shared this idea with Barb at the Priestley Forsyth Memorial Library, she welcomed the collection. Karl Shellenberger of the, Danville German Society, offered to donate a CD player to the cause. Contact: Van Wagner Van@vanwagnermusic.com
